We are reaching out to our friends, family, and kind-hearted individuals in our community to help us on a journey that means the world to us- To see Stone become a big brother!
Emilee and Conner were blessed on September 13th 2022 with a beautiful baby boy, Stone Hudson Moran. Emilee had the picture-perfect pregnancy. Unfortunately Stone was in respiratory distress and had to be taken by cesarean. Stone was having difficulty breathing on his own and had to be transported to the NICU in Charlotte. Luckily she was released the following day so she could finally meet her baby. Once arriving to the NICU doctors sat Conner and Emilee down and explained that Stone was showing some physical features of trisomy 21. After doing genetic testing during her pregnancy that was negative, obviously we were shocked. They did a blood test and the results took 10 days.

Ten days later It was confirmed Stone was born with translocation Down syndrome. Translocation trisomy 21, also known as translocation Down syndrome, is a rare genetic condition that affects individuals in a unique way compared to the more common form of Down syndrome, which is caused by a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. In translocation trisomy 21, there are still three copies of chromosome 21 present, but one of the copies is attached or translocated to another chromosome, often chromosome 14. This rearrangement can occur spontaneously or be inherited from a parent who carries a balanced translocation themselves.
Due to this being able to be inherited by a parent, Emilee and Conner have been seeing a geneticist. After a bunch of testing we discovered that Emilee carries a balanced translocation. This gives them a higher chance of having babies with a genetic disorder. Conner and Emilee having already started this long process of growing their family but have now hit a point where they cannot go any further without assistance. They will need go through IVF itself along with PGT testing of every embryo they get. This can cost up to $25,000.
