Make Pottstown Skate Again - at Ringing Rocks!
It goes without saying that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken an enormous toll on all of us. After being closed due to government mandate for many months, the cost and logistics of operating a public skating rink safely in our "new normal" was prohibitive. Our community has been without access to Ringing Rocks Skating Rink -- a Pottstown institution for over 100 years -- for 16 months. Many of the members of Rockstar Roller Derby grew up at Ringing Rocks. Our parents and grandparents grew up at Ringing Rocks. We want our children to have the same experience, and we want to ensure their children will continue this sacred Pottstown tradition for another 100 years. OK, so, in the spirit of transparency .... we also really, really miss beating up our friends on the track.
So we decided to do what we do best. We took it over.
We could not be more excited to announce that effective Aug 1, 2021, Rockstar Roller Derby is responsible for the full management and operations of Ringing Rocks Skating Rink.
All ages public skating sessions? We're back.
Birthday parties and events? We're back.
Adults-Only skate parties? We're back.
ROLLER DERBY?! Oh, we are BACK!

ABOUT US:
Rockstar Roller Derby (RRD) is a non-profit organization (501c3) built and sustained by the members, for the members. RRD fosters a non-judgmental, fun, and empowering environment for skaters and supports to experience the sport of flat-track exhibition roller derby. We promote a loyalty, sisterhood, and athleticism among our family of skaters. RRD promotes an open, comfortable environment for all of our league members. RRD is a grassroots, DIY, skater owned and operated team with a commitment to promoting fitness and health in our community.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Our organization to date has ran entirely on Member dues, fundraising, donations, and proceeds from our public bouts (or, "games"). RRD has been "closed" since March 2020, and therefore has lost 16 months of income. Our Officers do not receive a paycheck for anything we do - our labor is entirely a labor of love. Starting up a business has inherent costs, and any support we receive from the community will only help us make the business better!
Our goals for the next year include:
- Upgrading all of the rental skates and equipment
- Upgrading the kitchen & snack bar
- Upgrading the sound system
- Upgrading the lighting
- Resurfacing both skating floors
- And so much more!
Every dollar donated goes directly into the rink. Help us make it the best rink ever!
