Make our church a better community hub.

Hello there. My name is David, and I'm trying to raise funds for our church, which needs urgent work for accessibility and safety needs whilst also serving the community better.

1. Project Summary
The church has begun an important renewal project after the removal of the pews revealed the need to lower the floor. During this work, rotten timber was discovered, creating a larger and more urgent repair need than first expected. The project now includes replacing unsafe floor timbers, installing a new level floor, and renewing radiators and plumbing so the building is safe, warm, accessible, and ready for worship and community use.

2. The Need
• The pews have been removed, allowing the church to create a more flexible and welcoming space.
• The floor needed to be lowered, but rotten timber was discovered during the work.
• The rotten timber must be replaced to make the building safe and structurally sound.
• New radiators and plumbing are needed to provide reliable heating and support future use of the building.
• The work is essential for worship, community gatherings, hospitality, accessibility, and long-term stewardship of the church building.

3. Fundraising Goal
We are seeking to raise £15,000 to complete this urgent and necessary project. Every gift will help us replace the rotten timber, finish the lowered and levelled floor, and install new radiators and plumbing so the church can remain safe, warm, accessible, and ready to serve the whole community. The project costs are split evenly, with around half needed for the floor works and half for the heating and plumbing. Your support will help secure the building now and create a more welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and community activities for years to come.

4. Case for Support
The renewed floor, heating, and plumbing will help the church serve the community more safely and effectively. A warm, accessible, flexible space will support worship, welcome visitors, host community activities, and protect the building for future generations. The church already provides events for all ages and sometimes reaches the capacity of the church hall. Removing some pews will create more space for a wider range of activities and improve accessibility, especially for people from the new care home opposite who attend in wheelchairs. Previously, wheelchair users had to sit in the aisles between pews, creating a fire and safety risk. Because the pews stood on a raised floor, removing them also required the floor to be lowered. The church currently runs a weekly pre-school club during term time, a half-term children’s club, and a free monthly shared dinner open to everyone.
