Make Navarasa sustainable for 2018-19!

Navarasa Dance Theater  believes that art is an effective and powerful medium to explore contemporary social issues and mobilize people to effect positive social change. Together, we make a collective ocean of change that is so needed now. We need to care for our environment, for social justice, for education and space and time for art in all aspects of our life. We have been spreading our message through art and need your support to continue. Without your support we cannot go on. We hope that you will continue to support us to do good work through art and education to make this world a better place. We ask for your support as we end the year to support ourselves and our programs!

Our “Dance For Everyone” (started in 2008) program is growing and we now have every week two classes in Edapplayam village, Kerala and 2 classes in Mysore, India and in the US at our studio and online. We offer free and subsidized Bharata Natyam, Yoga and Kalari ppayattu (martial art) training for more than 200 kids and adults through “Dance For Everyone.”  Yes, this costs money. Your every dollar will help us keep this program going.

“This program has changed my life and my son’s life. He did not want to dance because not many boys are doing it. But I wanted him to try. He agreed and now he likes it a lot and I am a proud mother today to see him dance on stage. Every weekend he is busy learning and enjoying. Wish I had a chance to do this when I was a child. But I am thankful that you brought this to our village, so the kids can learn now.”

We are proud to say that kids from this program have joined dance departments for higher studies, started their own school, joined our company as professional dancers and more. We need to raise $10,000 to keep this going in five places (three centers in India, two in the US – including online sessions).

"Working with Aparna and Anil through "Dance For Everyone" program has been an amazing experience for me! I have received so much training  awesome opportunities to tour and perform with them and grow as an artist and performer. I am very grateful to be apart of such an awesome program!"

We also need your support for our performances, new work creation and studio development. We are putting in a much needed new wooden floor at our studio in Los Angeles. You are welcome to come take a class, share, show or have a gathering in this new beautiful space. It is yours and ours!

We need to raise $79,000 to keep all this going for 2019. We appreciate you every donation. We make art, teach and create a better society with you.

"Aparna Sindhoor is one of the rare artists I have worked with who is a dancer, choreographer, director, singer, actor, aerial artist, innovator and writer in one body with an excellence that is unmatched. Aparna Sindhoor is a union of artistic beauty and social justice."

~Rahul Varma, Playwright and Artistic Director, Teesri Duniya Theatre of Montreal
