As some of you may know, Eric and Gina's daughter Mary has been in and out of local hospitals to treat a recurring case of resistant E. coli. E. coli is a particularly nasty bacteria and can cause a host of related complications, including serious kidney damage. After 10 long and extremely difficult months, Mary has been diagnosed with kidney failure and Nutcracker Syndrome (a rare condition that occurs when the left renal vein is compressed by the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery).
After many days and nights of careful observation and investigation at the University of Colorado Hospital at Anschutz, Mary's team of physicians have concluded that the left kidney is occluded due to a blood clot in the renal vein-- causing a complete blockage. With this diagnosis comes the relief of knowing, but she is not out of the woods yet, and will need surgery to remove the non-functioning kidney as soon as possible. In the meantime, Mary spends most of her time at the hospital and is being treated with an injectable blood thinner.
Your donation will help cover Mary's plan deductible and out of pocket maximum for the surgery, as well as related monthly medication costs and recovery necessities. Donations will also go towards Mary's living expenses, as she's been unable to work for the past year with her many medical requirements, and monthly bills are feeling very overwhelming.
Eric, Gina, Mary and their family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their love and kindness. It's with your support Mary has been able to cope with this diagnosis, and we want to continue to provide Mary with what she needs to have a full recovery, and return to experiencing life as every young person should.
