Make Melanie & Harold's dream come true

Donation protected
This is our daughter and her husband, Harold. Please read their story and donate if you can, but please share with friends. We're hoping to help make her dream come true, but we need your help to do it. We know with your kind donations, we can make this happen. God bless you.

After many years of desiring love and feeling like she would not find her future husband in California… she, in fact, did. Melanie was connected with her soulmate, Harold, on an airplane on August 13, 2019 at 10:35 AM. Funny enough, this flight was a layover forth of them leaving from Oakland, California, but HE wasn’t from California. This handsome Texan swept her off her feet and they got married on December 12, 2020. This was God's way of saying “stay patient”, “trust me”, “I hear you”, “what anxiety?” (If you don’t already know, Melanie has always had crippling flight anxiety. And she’s actually joked forever about meeting her future husband on an airplane while having a panic attack). Enter in God’s humor and answered prayer.

Harold has two beautiful daughters. Riley, 18 and Chloe, 9. They live in Florida and were such an enormous bonus blessing to gain through marriage. Melanie felt like God knew her heart. He knew that she could be a step-mom and love his children like her own. After all, blended family was all she ever knew. The good, bad and ugly of it all. It was something He knew she could handle. And yet she desired more.

People have asked since day one if they were going to “start a family of our own one day.” Or “are there going to be babies in your future?” Or on Mother’s Day sending something like “Happy Mother’s Day?” “Well, to put it bluntly, we DO have a family of our own. We have since the day we got married. Those girls are my daughters. They are my family. I have treated them as such and will continue to until I can’t anymore. And yes, you can wish me a Happy Mother’s Day. No need for the question-mark. After all, I am a stepmother, a fur mother, a hopeful mother and also, a woman who is struggling with infertility.”

Unfortunately, there are sometimes outside factors and/or medical conditions that can affect this mission. A lot of times people don’t like to wear a sign telling the world they are infertile. So, it goes unannounced until it no longer can be kept quiet. While she does not wish to go into the details of it, there is solid data as to where the “issue” lies. Two fertility clinics, lots of testing, bloodwork, ultrasounds, sonograms and medications later, they are at a crossroads.

Home 5% chance
Medications 6-7% chance
IUI 9-10% chance *3 months = 30% chance
IVF the best chance

They’ve struggled with what to do next. There have been a lot of sad days. Hopeless days. Angry days. Days of trying to be happy for others. Days of envy. Days of questioning whether or not that trying to create new life is still a desire. Days of questioning God. His plan. What He is trying to show and teach.
They find themselves in a place where help is needed. Treatments are expensive. Though Colorado has (some) laws in place, they don’t include healthcare plans from employers that are not based in Colorado.
Melanie explains:
Our fertility clinic has outlined the initial costs of treatment for us.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
It has been recommended to TRY three consecutive months of IUI. Each month, the treatment is $1,500. This totals $4,500 for a very small success rate. Though we are willing to try this method, we know the reality of the next phase of treatment is IVF.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
The clinic has a “Shared Risk” program that we have been qualified for that will cost (upfront) $25,000 while I am still 34. At 35, this goes up to $29,000. And then at 38, it goes up to $37,000.

Overall, we need to raise approximately $30,000 before October 28, 2024. After that date, we will need approximately $34,000 to move forward with treatments.

Please continue to pray for Melanie and Harold during this time. Psalm 34:7
