Help Maureen Receive Life-Changing Spine Surgery

I need to travel from Maui to Texas for a specialized spine surgery that isn’t available in Hawaii. After years of severe pain and progressive loss of mobility, this procedure is my chance to regain stability, function, and my quality of life.

My Story

For the past six years, I’ve been living with severe and progressive back pain that has gradually taken over my life.

Two years ago, everything became much worse.

I had to give up my income from the handmade jewelry business that I loved. Within a short time, I suffered two spinal fractures, and just months later, I fractured my femur and required a hip replacement. I also developed a pars fracture, a spinal injury that causes the vertebrae to slip out of place.

Since then, I have been living in constant, debilitating pain.

Over the last two years, I have done my best to smile and remain positive every single day, even as my condition has continued to worsen.

Today, I am mostly housebound and often bedbound, struggling with basic daily activities. I have tried injections, procedures, and every conservative treatment available in hopes of avoiding surgery — but my spine has continued to deteriorate.

My doctors have now determined that this two-level Alif spinal fusion is my best chance to stabilize my spine, relieve nerve compression, and give me a chance to regain mobility and independence.

This surgery is my chance to get my life back.

Why I Must Travel

Because of the specialized surgical team required, I must travel from Maui to Dallas, Texas.
