Help M be safe and become an American.
We made our first goal!! Thank you everyone who has donated. We have increased the goal to provide a greater cushion for M and any funds in excess of his legal costs will go to his college funds.
"This is the first country I feel safe in and can be the real me".
M. desperately needs financial help with the legal fees for his immigration case.
He is currently studying in the US and may have to leave with his parents (end of assignment to DC) in the Summer. M is trans and if his immigration case is unsuccessful he faces deportation to his country of birth. He would face an uncertain and dangerous future given that country's history of violence to the LGBTQ community. He would also be subject to a compulsory military draft in his birth sex which would be devastating .
He is a gifted scholar, speaks 5 languages fluently with a further 3 passably, is an award winning artist and an accomplished martial artist. He practices kendo, iaido, jodo, and battodo. He is studying applied mathematics at a highly rated state college.
He is working part time to fund his case and studies and has sold, and continues to sell his possessions in order to raise money. The legal fees are mounting and M needs the funds in the next 6 to 8 weeks.
I have known M for over 2 years and have been impressed with his dedication and commitment to his studies and his other pursuits. He is thoughtful, caring and compassionate and I believe, deserves a chance to fulfil his dreams in safety and to find happiness and fulfilment and become a highly valued American in due course.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a huge difference to M. Please, if you can, consider donating to M's legal fees. Any funds in excess of the expected legal costs will go to funding his college studies.
Please help to show M that there is real humanity and compassion out there and that he deserves to live a full, and safe life in his authentic self - it would be an incredible gift.
