Help the Fish families future be a little brighter

If you are lucky enough to know Shannon and Tom then you know how amazing their family is, and if you do not know them hopefully one day you’ll meet them because they are AMAZING!! They are the type of people who would drop anything to help when asked, and wouldn’t ask for anything in return. They have four beautiful children, one in college and triplets in middle school. Tom and Shannon both work hard to provide a beautiful life for their children. 

This wonderful family has fallen into very scary times and could use some help. Here’s what’s happening…

Tom was diagnosed with COVID-19 early this year. He then developed COVID related pneumonia which made it difficult for him to breathe and maintain his oxygen saturation. He has been hospitalized and receiving all possible treatments the medical team can provide. He did well at first on non-invasive supplemental oxygen. He fought hard, but his body succumbed to the weight of his illness, and he has been placed on a ventilator. The hope is that mechanical ventilation will give his lungs and body the chance they need to recover. Now, however, his kidneys have gone into acute failure. He is requiring hemodialysis to take over the job of his kidneys. The medical team are considering this their "Hail Mary" in an attempt to bring Tom back to his family.

 

The last thing this wonderful family should be worrying about are expenses. The best we can all hope for is that Tom returns home happy and healthy to his family. But leaving the hospital is not the end of his journey. He may require subacute rehab to regain his strength and mobility after a prolonged hospital stay. At the very least, he will need home care for several weeks to months in order to gain full function. There is still so much unknown about the long term effects of this virus and what he has been through. He may not be able to return to work for several months. He will need the support of his wife and family. No one should have to shoulder the burden of finances while recovering from such a traumatic illness.

And so I ask…

Help us help them worry less about the financial part and allow them to focus on caring for each other through this difficult time. They need our support so let’s rally and give them all we got!

Updates will be made as we get them on Tom’s progress but prayers and donations are what we have for now.
We know this is also a hard ask but please respect the families privacy and refrain from calling and texting for now. Shannon knows this is happening but is overwhelmed with making the best choices for Tom’s care and worrying about their children.
