Help Bring Jerry to see the Lion King in 2026!
Theater access should be for everyone but, sadly, it isn’t especially with the cost of tickets and travel. New York City is the theater capital of the United States but, in recent years, with a record cost-of-living crisis gripping the country, it is - increasingly - out of reach to so many.
Meet Jeremiah Fooks, who is (in his mother’s words):
“A 10 year old rambunctious little boy who touches every heart in some way that he comes in contact with. Jeremiah was born with a Peroxisomal Disorder, which is a rare genetic disorder that causes multiple symptoms and multiple diseases. Since his birth he has faced multiple challenges from intellectual disability, low eye vision, and short stature and with the help from multiple doctors, therapists, teachers,
and family has overcome so many obstacles. Jerry, as most people call him, absolutely loves music and singing all sorts of genres. He has gone from starting with just Disney songs, to Thriller by Michael Jackson, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and now the Star Spangled Banner. He may be the shortest kid in the bunch but he makes up for it with his boisterous voice, his bright smile, and big hugs that can help anyone turn their day around. His fight and his fearlessness is an encouragement that no matter what, keep going."
Jerry especially loves the Lion King and as his eyesight becomes less and less reliable as he grows up, we want to give him a chance to see his favorite show ever before he loses his sight. He knows all the words to the songs and it is a real source of joy for him especially as he transitions to a new school and his support system changes.
We are fundraising to bring Jerry and his Mom and brother to NYC to see a matinee and enjoy a nice lunch in our nation’s cultural capital, NYC. Help us make a dream come true for Jerry, a little boy with a fighting spirit and a love of music and theater that should be nurtured and celebrated!
For three good tickets we are looking at $200 each (so $600) + lunch and traveling costs, about $300. We are looking at about $1000.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration and help making this little boy's dream come true. It's not lost on us that these are uncertain times so your support means a tremendous amount.
Long live theater and dreams!
