Make Jamila's dream to be a nurse come true

Donation protected
Hi friends! For years I have been supporting Jamila through the Jacaranda School for Orphans in Blantyre, Malawi. Before Jamila's mother died in April 2012, Jacaranda founder Marie da Silva promised she would look after Jamila and her little brothers Sulleman and Evance. Jamila was just 12 when she took on the role of mom to her two younger brothers. Marie helped her find a place to live, a neighbour to watch over her, and support through donors like me to pay for schooling at Jacaranda.
After years of hard work, Jamila has started to realize her dream of studying to become a nurse and midwife at university.
Jamila says she want to teach people the importance of family planning, how to live healthy lives and care for palliative patients. Childbirth is risky in Malawi, where maternal and infant mortality rates are among the highest in the world. Jamila wants to change that. "Care needs to be taken, because if the woman is not taken care of she can die or the baby can die, so l want to be a nurse who will take care of them whenever I am in a maternity ward to reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality."
She also wants to "treat the patients with love and care."
Because every young woman deserves an education, and I want the world for Jamila, I am starting this fundraiser to put her through her three-year university program.
Please consider donating to help Jamila. The world will be a better place with nurses and midwives like Jamila in it!
