Hi everyone, we’re students from UNT who care deeply about sustainability, and we’re raising funds for Recycle Across America to bring clearer, standardized recycling labels across the United States. Texas ties with California for having the most recyclable material lost in the United States—3.2 million tons every year. At the same time, Dallas has one of the lowest recycling rates among major cities in Texas at just 20%, and that rate has remained stagnant for years. While these numbers are concerning, they also highlight a powerful opportunity: with the right tools and awareness, we can make meaningful, measurable progress together.
Recycle Across America, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, works to address one of the biggest barriers to effective recycling: unclear and inconsistent bin labels. By providing standardized, evidence-based labels, the organization helps reduce contamination and increase the amount of material that is properly recycled. Our goal of $500 will fund up to 200 standardized recycling labels for bins—creating a simple but impactful change that empowers our communities to recycle with confidence. Clear, consistent labels make sustainable action intuitive and accessible in schools, apartment complexes, offices, and public spaces, helping communities build better habits that last.
We believe our generation has both the responsibility and the ability to create practical, lasting solutions to environmental challenges. Supporting this campaign is an investment in a proven, system-level change that can keep millions of pounds of recyclable material out of landfills. Every contribution—no matter the size—moves us forward and strengthens a growing movement toward a cleaner, more sustainable future in Dallas and beyond. With your support, we are confident that we can turn awareness into action and progress into lasting impact. Donate today and share this campaign with your friends, family, and networks! Together, we can make recycling clearer, easier, and more effective for everyone in our communities, building a future we can all feel hopeful about.
