Make George's house accessible
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brian and I am trying to raise money for my friend George McCann. As most of you know George has had several tough years, starting in September of 2017. This is when he had to have a toe amputated on his right foot. It then continued when they had to go back and take the rest of his toes. This procedure never did heal properly and this past September 4th, Labor Day, George was admitted to the ICU unit of Mt Sinai hospital with a badly infected foot which had turned into Sepsis, a blood infection. Thankfully, they were able to treat the Sepsis but the damage was already done and they could not save his foot. George had to have his right leg amputated below the knee. George then spent a month in the hospital treating the infection while his leg healed. On October 1st, George was transferred to a rehabilitation center waiting for his leg to completely heal and for a prosthetic leg to be made. On December 11th, George received his new prosthetic leg and began his rehab assignment of learning how to walk again.
Now the reason for the Go Fund Me. Not long after this all started, George had to stop working and went on Social Security Disability. This along with his reduced pension from Pathmark, since they went bankrupt, has created some financial hardship for him. George's house was built in the 1880's and as you can probably imagine isn't a very friendly place for a disabled person. George really needs for his bathroom to be renovated so he can have a walk-in shower along with a toilet and sink that will assist with his disability. Any extra money raised will help in making the entrances more accessible for him and lastly to update the kitchen or possibly update the flooring to prevent any trip hazards.
George has always been there for everyone when they needed help. I personally know this since he has always been there for me and my children since my wife Leslie passed away in 1998. George was also instrumental in running a fundraiser for my family after Leslie passed. Please help if you can. Please forward this to anyone that you know who would like to help or anyone that you know that is also friend's with him. George has so many friends I know that there is no way I could reach them all. Thank you for your time, God bless you.
Sincerely,
Brian
