Make Foxdog's Leg Great Again

Donation protected
Hello, World!
My name is Katherine Hair and I rescued a stray dog who had been hit on the highway today. "Foxdog" was disoriented, exhausted and trapped on a narrow shoulder of HWY 244 during morning rush hour. With the help of a kind TPD officer, I was eventually able to safely get to him. He was huddled just barely out of the left lane against a concrete barrier, extremely far from any on or off-ramps He tried to move towards me as I approached him, and let me pick him up and carry him to my car in spite of being scared and in severe pain. With no tags or micro chip, we may never know how Foxdog ended up on HWY 244, but here's hoping it wasn't at the hands of cruel humans.

Unfortunately, Foxdog had been hit at some point during this ordeal. Both his tibia and his fibula are shattered in one of his back legs. He is on pain meds (although is still very uncomfortable) and is in a temporary splint for now, thanks to Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists.

Foxdog needs one of two surgeries. He either needs to have his leg surgically repaired by a veterinary orthopedic surgeon which, while more expensive, is a possibility of giving him a normal four legged life. The other option is to amputate the limb. Dogs are resilient and adapt extremely well to three-legged life, and it may eventually come to that, but without knowing anything about this dog's hobbies, likes and dislikes, or history, I'd like to give him the best shot I can. This is where you come in.

Stabilizing him after he was hit has cost nearly $900 so far. He has several appointments tomorrow to figure out the best course of action for him, and for me to figure out what I can afford. As many of you know, veterinary bills can quickly become astronomical, and with the nature of his injury time is of the essence. I wasn't anticipating driving past a Foxdog trapped on a highway today, but I couldn't bring myself to leave him in his suffering. I truly want him to be as comfortable as possible as soon as possible. Everything helps, from good vibes, to shares, to of course, that ever important cash. All funds raised will go to Foxdog's medical bills, and if there is anything left I will donate everything back to other animals who need a lucky break just like Foxdog does. Thank you all so much and I will keep you all posted.
