Make Denissa's DREAM to be an RN Come TRUE!

MAKE DENISSA’S DREAM COME TRUE TO BE AN RN!

Denissa, who is an international student from Honduras and living with us as part of our family, has been applying to American universities for nursing school.  Her dream is to become a NURSE because she wants to help her country IMPROVE ITS MEDICAL CARE.  We want to help her RN DREAM come true. My family is dedicated to her education, and wouldn’t it be amazing if we all had a small part in helping Denissa attend Nursing School?  Most of you know Denissa's hard work, dedication, authenticity, and kindness, and with God’s help (and your financial gift) we can work together to MAKE HER DREAM COME TRUE!  Denissa became my riding inspiration to ride my bike 100 miles in one day to raise funds for her college!

Will you join me as I ride 100 Miles for Denissa on May 29 to raise $10,000 for her RN education?

Denissa has been accepted into Biola University Pre-Nursing Program and our hope is she will transfer this Fall (pending no issues with Covid-Closures!).  We want to do everything to help her – even in these challenging times.

Here’s a little more about Amazing Denissa….

In 2005 we moved to Honduras to live and work in Honduras.  We met Denissa when she was 6.  In 2013 she came to live with us for her 9th-grade year and returned to Honduras to finish high school with a 4.0 GPA.   She had a dream to serve her country in the medical field but didn’t quite know how to make it happen.  In 2018 she returned to the states on an Academic Visa and has maintained a 3.8 GPA, played on the college Soccer and Tennis teams, worked part-time, and been a great big sister to Abby.  She decided on a career in Nursing so she can be a voice of change for her country in the medical field.

Recently she wrote an essay for a Scholarship that impacted me greatly.  Here is a portion of it.  “I grew up in a small, extremely poor community in Honduras. When I was a little girl my mom, brother, and I would spend days at the local hospital because my brother and mom were asthmatics and needed help to breathe….They would struggle after receiving poor medical care and never seemed to improve.  After watching so many family and friends die and/or suffer because of poor healthcare in my country, I believe I can help in Honduras to identify gaps in care and medicine, offer training and leadership so communities like mine can be strengthened and people can receive excellent care - not poor and inadequate care.”

Will you help be a part of sending Denissa to Nursing School by sponsoring me to ride 100 miles on May 29?

P.S.  I surprised Denissa today (5/18) about why I was riding.  She was so sweet and began to cry.  She's watched me train for the last 3 months and I kept telling her it was for a different fundraiser for Her Country.   To ride for her is a treasure for me!  Thanks for joining me in praying and believing for her Dream!  We can all be a part of seeing history made for this amazing young person who wants to impact her country and the world for better.
