For the first time in 25 YEARS, the Indiana Pacers have made it back to the NBA finals, beating out the New York Knicks in a gritty 6-game series with intense, jaw-dropping, highlight reel worthy moments. Diehard Pacers fans Bebe and Ben (who were wee little boys when the Pacers last made the NBA finals) would LOVE to be able to attend a finals game to watch and support their favorite team at home. Having already been to a few playoff games this year, it was thought that ticket prices would be fairly reasonable for what could be considered by many to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, prices have skyrocketed to the point where it would be unjustifiable to drop an entire month of rent for upper deck tickets - at least for Bebe, a measly PhD student living paycheck to paycheck, occasionally scraping up meals from the side of the road to survive. Ben, on the other hand.. he's a big hotshot corporate lawyer so he's really in no bind.
I am calling for the support of friends, family, and all fans of basketball to help get these fine young lads a chance to cement themselves in the history books as the rowdiest, most energizing, loudest "REFS YOU SUCK" chanters the NBA has ever seen. This is a chance to witness a revolution, where superstar teams leading the league in free throws and foul-baiting are superseded by young stars dominating with the power of friendship and fast-paced, team oriented play - playing the sport that the great Dr. Naismith envisioned in the early 20th century the way it was always meant to be played. To give these guys a chance to be a part of history, I am practically BEGGING for donations to our cause. Even a small contribution would would go a long, long way in making two people's dreams come true.
