Hi everyone,
My name is Ajani Latyr Huchard, and I am a Junior Bioengineering student at Santa Clara University and a proud member of the SCU Men's Club Rugby team. I'm reaching out for support to make a once-in-a-lifetime team tour to Italy a reality.
This year, our team has the incredible opportunity to travel to Italy (Mestre, Padua, and Venice) to play against local Italian clubs, immerse ourselves in their rich rugby tradition, and experience the culture that binds the international rugby community. This tour is the capstone of our season and a huge developmental step for our club.
Since joining the club in the winter of my Freshman year, I fell completely in love with the passion and intensity of rugby. I play Outside Center, number 13, a position that requires strategy, speed, and good ball handeling.
Normally, I would be focusing on working to pay for the cost of this trip, but my schedule is currently dedicated to balancing intense academic and extracurricular responsibilities. I am completing a 20-unit course load as a Bioengineering major, work as a Resident Assistant (RA) in the dorms to help pay for my yearly housing/food costs, and dedicate significant time working in a Molecular Biology research lab outside of my comitment on the rugby field. Between my role as an RA, my heavy course load, my lab work, and the Rugby season my time for external fundraising work is virtually non-existent.
The total cost of the tour is around $3,000. Thanks to the amazing generosity of our SCU Rugby Alumni donors, I have already secured 50% of the funding!
I am now seeking to raise the final $1,500 to cover the remaining costs and secure my spot on the plane. Every contribution, big or small, will directly support my travel, accommodations, and the opportunity to represent Santa Clara University Rugby on an international stage.
Thank you for considering supporting me as I tackle this final challenge. I promise to play hard, learn much, and bring back a few great stories (and hopefully a win or two!) from Italy.
Go Broncos!
