Make a Pawsitive Impact in Mack's Life

Hi, my name is Mack, and I'm reaching out for community support to help me with my goal of getting a service dog. Achieving this would allow me to regain my independence, safety, and stability. I live with several complex chronic illnesses that greatly alter my ability to function, one of many being Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. From debilitating chronic pain and nerve issues to severe fatigue and unpredictable limitations, everyday is a balancing act. My conditions are disruptive and debilitating - causing issues ranging from passing out, seizures, dystonia (severe muscle spasms that result in me losing control of my legs), low blood sugar, subluxations (partial dislocations of a joint), allergic reactions, migraines and much more. Currently I'm reliant on a kind on a kind of nutritional life support called TPN, this is because my body is no longer able to receive enough nutrition through my GI tract. I have struggled greatly with my functionality the past few years, only a year ago I had to relearn how to move my legs and walk because of complications from a condition I had surgically corrected called Tethered Cord Syndrome. Now I'm facing several more possible surgeries (that if I'm being honest I really don't want to have) and even more testing. But despite what life throws at me I'm determined to regain the parts of my life that I can no longer actively participate in - from school and work, to simple tasks like picking something off the ground. A fully trained service dog would help me mitigate medical episodes and preform tasks like; medical altering, mobility support, and deep pressure therapy during flares and dystonia episodes. Beyond the physical support, they'd also bring me and my loved ones peace of mind. Knowing I'm not alone and have support in public, at home, or during medical episodes would make a huge difference in my quality of life.
All in the cost of a professionally trained service dog is steep - ranging from $25,000 to $40,000. More specifically a prospect can range anywhere from $3,000-$4,000, with training being an upwards of $17,000 - and unfortunately insurance doesn't cover it. I'm working to contribute what I can, but I need your help getting all the way there.

If you're able to give - whether it's $5 or just sharing my story, it would mean the world to me. With your support I'd be able to live with more safety, confidence, and freedom - and most importantly, live my life to the fullest despite my disabilities.

Thank you for being here and supporting me.

With love and endless gratitude,
Mack
