Over the past months, I have watched as my two uncles and their families seek shelter in every safe, designated zone in Gaza. At the beginning of the war, I watched my family put on a spectacular display of courage, selflessness, and, even in the darkest hours, graceful humor.
As I sit thousands of miles away, they stand alone, having lost their homes, businesses, and all their belongings as a result of Israeli strikes on Gaza. My uncles, Hussam (wife and one baby girl, Wateen) and Muhammed (wife and girls Lamyaa and Mariam), and their beautiful families are some of the most compassionate human beings I have ever met. They are the ones who taught me everything I know, including my work ethic, which has allowed me to be only one year away from becoming a medical doctor in the United States.
Yesterday evening, my whole family witnessed continued bombardment from joint munitions (jets, artillery, and ground forces) just meters away, where they were seeking shelter with a total of three children. With my financial capital limited as a medical student, and after exhausting every possible avenue with the Department of State and local congresswoman to facilitate a safe passage for my family, I turn to the GoFundMe community to give my family hope in surviving a war that has grazed them with physical and mental traumas so far. My uncle Mohammed suffered from shrapnel injury in the recent bombing at the hospital he works and was taking shelter in and has been receiving basic and borderline insufficient wound care for his right leg.
There might be very little I can do thousands of miles away, but I am hopeful because I have a voice that I can use to reach thousands of charitable and wonderful human beings who can be part of an effort to save the lives of my family. Much of what motivates me to pursue my career as a medical doctor is the belief that saving one person's life will propagate the deed to touch the lives of many. Today, I urge you to save the lives of two entire families so you can be part of an effort that will touch the lives of thousands of people, which my family will be a part of.
The contributed donations will be used for both short-term (weeks to months) and long-term (12-18 months) purposes. For the short term, my family will seek safe passage through Rafah and travel to Egypt. Safe passage will be sought by a travel agency in Egypt that provides a line of mediation to list their name on the travel log in Rafah, enabling them to leave Gaza, a method of evacuation that is legal and safe. I will pay the agency once they safely evacuate and arrive in Cairo. While in Egypt and after the war, your donation will help give them a place to live.
In the long term, we are awaiting the war to end and will be deciding on either:
1) Pay for their home to be rebuilt in Gaza if it is designated to be safe. If this is the pathway they choose, a portion of the funds will be used to buy some equipment for my uncle's business (Optometry practice) I have attached pictures of the partial destruction of the business.
2) Sponsor them to come to the United States using the Temporary Protective Status if Gaza is awarded the designation by the Department of Homeland Security or by sponsorship using an attorney. In that case, your donation will assist with legal fees, airfare, and resettlement costs.
Accountability:
I am just one person doing all my power to help my family. I am willing to provide you with all my contact information to maintain the utmost transparency that you deserve.
I will create an Excel sheet and link it here. For each donation over $100, I will note down your name and detail exactly where your money went, as well as provide progress images and payment receipts. My whole family is on board with this process.

خلال الأشهر الماضية شاهدت أخوالي الاثنين و عائليتهما يبحثون بشتى الطرق عن أي مكان آمن وفي الأماكن المحددة في غزة. في بداية الحرب، رأيت عائلتي وهي تظهر أعلى مظاهر الشجاعة والإيثار، ورغم كل الأوقات الحالكة، وحتى روح فكاهية راقية رغم الألم.
وبينما أجلس هنا على بعد آلاف، هم يمكثون هناك وحدهم، بينما خسروا بيوتهم وأماكن أعمالهم، وكل متعلقاتهم وما يملكون نتيجة للقصف الاسرائيلي على غزة.
أخوالي، وهم خالي حسام (وزوجته وطفلته وتين)، وخالي محمد (وزوجته وابنتاه لمياء ومريم)، عائلاتهما الجميلتان هما من أكثر الأشخاص المتعاطفين انسانيا الذين قابلتهم في حياتي. فهم من علمني كل ما أعرفه، وبما فيها أخلاقيات العمل الخاصة بي، والتي تفصلني عاماً واحداً عن تخرجي طبيباً بشرياً في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
بالأمس كما كل الايام، شهدت عائلتي قصفاً مستمراً بلا توقف بكل أنواع الأسلحة ( الطائرات الحربية، والمدفعية والتوغل البري بالدبابات) وكان على بعد بضعة أمتار فقط، حيث حاولوا اللجوء لمكان آمن لهم وللثلاثة أطفال ولكن كل محاولاتهم بائت بالفشل واضطروا إلى البقاء في مناطق الخطر.
كطالب يدرس الطب، القدرة المالية لدي محدودة جداً، وبعد استنفاذ كافة الطرق المتاحة من قبل وزارة الخارجية وعضوة مجلس الشيوخ المحلية، من ايجاد طريقة لتيسير ممر آمن لخروج عائلتي، اضطررت للجوء إلى مجتمع (جوفاندمي) من أجل إعطاء عائلتي أملاً في النجاة من الحرب التي خلفت فيهم آثاراً جسدية وصدمات نفسية قاسية لغاية الآن.
فقد عاني خالي محمد من إصابات بشظايا من قصف المشفى الذي اعتاد العمل فيه، والذي كان يلجأ إليه كمأوى له أيضاً، وهو يتلقى علاجاً أولياً نظراً لعدم توفر الإمكانيات العلاجية الصحية لعلاج إصاباته، لكلتا الساقين.
لربما لا يمكنني فعل الكثير وأنا على بعد آلاف الأميال، ولكن لدي أمل لأن لدي صوت يمكنني استخدامه للوصول لآلاف الناس المتبرعين الرائعين والذين يمكنهم من أن يكونوا جزءاً لجهود إنقاذ حياة عائلتي، من أكثر ما يحفزني لمحاولة نجاحي كطالب في الطب حتى أصبح طبيباً هو قناعاتي بأن إنقاذ حياة شخصاً واحداً من شأنه أن يعزز ويلمس حياة الكثيرين.
اليوم، أحثكم على إنقاذ حياة عائلتين كاملتين، لكي تكونوا جزءاً من جهد من أجله أن يمس حياة الالاف من الناس، والتي ستكون عائلتي جزءاً منها.
سوف يتم استخدام التبرعات الممنوحة لأغراض قصيرة المدى ( أسابيع لأشهر)، وطويلة المدى (12-18 شهراً).
بالنسبة للأغراض قصيرة المدى، ستقوم عائلتي بالبحث عن طريقة آمنة عبر معبر رفح وتسافر إلى مصر. السفر الآمن سيتم القيام به عبر وكالة السفر في مصر وهي الوسيط الذي يقوم بتنزيل اسمائهم ضمن كشوفات خاصة بمعبر رفح الدولي، والذي يمكنهم من مغادرة قطاع غزة، وهي طريقة الأخلاء القانونية والآمنة، وسيتم دفع الرسوم اللازمة لذلك حسب الآلية واللوائح المدرجة، حتى يتمكنوا من الوصول إلى القاهرة بأمان.
وسيتم استخدام جزءاً من تبرعاتكم لمساعدتهم في توفير مسكن ليعيشوا به مع المستلزمات الأساسية للحياة حيث أنهم فقدوا كل شي يملكونه هناك.
وعلى المدى الطويل، نحن بانتظار انتهاء الحرب وسوف نقرر لاحقاً إما:
١- دفع تكاليف اعادة بناء منازلهم في غزة إذا ما كان الوضع آمناً لفعل ذلك. وإذا كان هذا هو الطريق الذين سيقومون باختياره، سيذهب جزءاً من التبرعات لشراء بعض المعدات اللازمة لمحل خالي (الخاص بالبصريات )، والذي قمت بنشر بعض من الدمار الجزئي الخاص بالمكان.
٢- القيام بتغطية كفالة قدومهم إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية تحت برنامج الحماية الإنسانية المؤقتة وذلك إن تم تحديد غزة كمكان مؤهل لذلك بقرار من وزارة الداخلية الأمريكية، او عبر كفالتهم بواسطة محامٍ قانوني. وفي تلك الحالة ستساعدهم تبرعاتكم في تغطية كامل الرسوم القانونية، وتذاكر الطيران، وتكاليف اعادة تأسيس حياتهم هنا.
المساءلة:
أنا فقط شخص واحد أحاول بكل قواي لمساعدة عائلتي. وأنا على أتم الاستعداد لتزويدكم بكافة وسائل التواصل الخاصة بي وذلك من أجل تحقيق أقصى درجات الشفافية التي تستحقونها.
سوف أقوم بتصميم ورقة عمل نظام إكسل وسأقوم بارفاقها هنا . وذلك سيتم لكل تبرع يزيد عن 100 دولار أمريكي، وسأرفق اسمكم وكل تفاصيل طرق انفاق المبلغ بالضبط، وسأقوم بتزويدكم بصور محدثة لتطور الخطوات ووصول دفع.
حياة عائلتي بأكملها متوقفة على هذه العملية.
