Fritz Johnson has lived in Accra, Ghana his whole life. He has always pursued fashion through the creative arts. His earliest recollections of his childhood always include sketching and doodling people in “special clothes”; clothes that were simply different. Much to the disapproval of his family, Fritz grew up pursuing art through fashion, shrugging off discouragement that was often confidence shattering. He took the lack of support in pursuing his dreams and used it as the fuel required for the long journey ahead. His goal, to make meaningful and widespread contributions to society through his talent and emulate great personalities such as Oswald Boateng, Virgil Abloh and Karl Lagerfeld.
Fritz has toiled since the age of 17, for the past 5 years, working over 7 jobs. With no emotional or financial support from family, he juggled as many as 3 jobs at a go, at one stage working as a waiter, facility manager, and Non-profit volunteer while maintaining his creative pursuits in Film and Photography as a freelance artist, just to fund his first formal fashion training at Radford University College, Ghana.
Last year, Fritz applied to the Bachelor in the Fashion program at the International Fashion Academy (IFA) in Paris, France. A program ranked 1st among French fashion schools by the SMBG-Eduniversal Institute, which annually ranks the expertise of universities and schools in France and worldwide. He applied to this program which is limited to 25 students worldwide annually and hoped to earn a scholarship in addition to acceptance. However, on 13th May 2019, he received a conditional acceptance into the program, the condition being he could pay the fees with no funding assistance.
Fritz’s acceptance was pivotal in twofold. It was a ringing endorsement of his talent, his hard work and how far he had come to develop his talent. He has the opportunity to pursue Fashion in one of the best locations in the world to pursue it professionally; Paris, France. It also highlighted important qualities that all people close to Fritz can attest to; his sheer determination, visionary insight and humility have and will continue to open doors to success for him.
We set this GoFundMe, to help pay for the cost of Fritz’s first year. He must pay €4,400 by June 12th, 2019 to confirm his place at IFA and another €4,200 by September 30th, 2019 to begin his studies. The rest of the funding will go toward accommodation, healthcare insurance, utilities, and other living costs. Fritz is determined to fund his studies independently beyond his first year by continuing to demonstrate his drive and work ethic and working several part-time jobs outside the classroom, a skill he has mastered.
Please help us to help Fritz by contributing, sharing with friends to contribute or both. Every little contribution will go a long way toward making a dream a reality. "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney
