This call is to all friends and kind-hearted people!
We are reaching out and asking for support for our loving friend and neighbor Janice DeHaven. Janice has been battling a very aggressive stage 4 cancer that began in her liver more than two years ago. She is currently in the throes of her third round of chemotherapy, and her medical bills are piling up. Her condition has prevented her from replacing the job she lost several years ago, and with the unexpected passing of her boyfriend of 25 years, she has little to no income coming in from month to month.
Janice has lived in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago for most of her adult life. While in Uptown, she has always been an active member of the community, doing anything she can to effect growth and positive change. Her neighbors at 4420 N. Clark St know her as the building's matriarch. When she was not quite so ill, she always had time to babysit, house-sit, and help out in any way possible.
Any help will make a huge difference. These funds will be used to cover her basic needs - things that many of us take for granted - while she continues her fight against this awful disease. Due to the length of her illness and her family's inability to lend support, the situation is quite urgent. Again, we appreciate any help you're able to provide.
