Make a difference and support our journalist Alaa Hamouda

Hi Everyone,

My name is Deana,

Thank you for taking the time to join me in our quest to help one of the on the ground journalists in war torn Ga..Za.

A few words from Alla:

"My name is Alaa Hamouda, a 35-year-old Palestinian journalist who has witnessed the horrific reality of Ga..za through six wars spanning from 2008 to the ongoing genocide in 2023.

Throughout this ongoing genocide in Ga..za, journalists like me have faced serious threats. Tragically, many of my colleagues have lost their lives simply for trying to shed light on the atrocities of the occupation. Their sacrifices and those of their families epitomize the highest price one can pay for freedom of expression.

My family and I have borne the weight of the psychological trauma of the atrocities we have witnessed. We are constantly displaced. Our minds and bodies are traumatized by having been displaced more than seven times in search of safety amidst the destruction wrought by the occupation.
Despite these difficulties, I continue my journalistic endeavors and report the truth as it is to the world, using my personal phone after my work equipment was destroyed.

Now, I turn to you for your support to rebuild our lives and secure basic rights for my family. We have committed no crime other than being P4lestinian. I appeal to you to help us find hope for a future free from disease, hunger and the constant threat of violence.

My family and I were left homeless and without any possessions. Our beloved home, the symbol of our efforts and love, was partially destroyed and upon our displacement I find myself with nothing but the clothes on my body and some identification papers in our backpacks.

After 388 days in Gaza, people are still starving and we are all facing severe famine. The famine is happening while we are constantly under attack from the latest modern 2000 lbs AI bombs. We are still suffering unbelievably due to lack of humanitarian aid, food/water, medicine, shelter, clothing, hygiene products, electricity and much more. The cold and rain will soon arrive and make our conditions even worse inside our tent, we are not getting a break! We are not sleeping anymore! We are constantly moving. Our minds and bodies are traumatized, but we still manage to hold on to our “hope to live” with our strong spirits.

Please close your eyes and put yourself in our shoes for just a minute. At this time, we have no other choice but to try to save ourselves. We want to escape death, but this task seems impossible, as the governments closed the Rafah border months ago, trapping all P4lestinian residents inside the Ga..za Strip. In addition, even if the border reopens, government agencies charge high exit fees and cannot even guarantee our safe exit. The exit process can take months. We are a family of 4 and it would cost us over $15,000 just to coordinate our exit from the Ga..za Strip through the Rafah/Egypt border. That is why I decided to start this fundraiser with my friend Deanna, we will win!

I will use 100% of the funds to ensure the safety of my family’s survival. I will also continue to support our community with survival needs in any way possible during this never-ending horrific nightmare that is this conflict. We hope to save some money to get out of this open-air prison one day, but for now we need money to survive every day.

Please help me build a support network for people. We are reaching out to our communities in a sincere and urgent plea for your help. We are living through the worst of humanity and I don’t even know how I am still alive and able to continue documenting. I can only believe that God and my ancestors are protecting me to do this important work. Only together can we survive this painful time that is upon us.

We are so grateful for any support you can offer, whether it is monetary or by spreading the word and sending this donation link to your friends and loved ones, and we are grateful for everything you can do to stand in solidarity with us. Share it far and wide! Use your voice to tell our stories and spread our message. Use your social media, your platforms, your connections and your networks to keep our mission alive.

Now that it has been over a year, I have managed to build up a large following on Instagram which was essential for our GoFundMe campaign. Instagram is my only way to record what is happening to us here in the G4za Strip and show the world the truth.
