Support for Makaylah Williams' Family in Their Time of Loss

Makaylah Denise Williams, a bright and compassionate spirit, left this world too soon on January 5, 2025, due to complications from type one diabetes and pneumonia. Born on August 6, 2004, in Misawa, Japan, Makaylah's journey of kindness and laughter began, bringing joy to all who knew her. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories in San Antonio, TX, where she passed away.

Makaylah's early years were marked by the loss of her father, Dustin Blaine Williams, in service to our Country and she cherished him and held him close to her heart. Her uncle Chad Trawick and paternal grandfather Charles Williams also predeceased her. Despite these early hardships, Makaylah's resilience and strength shone through, supported by the unwavering love of her mother, Nerrissa Williams-Carter, and her devoted stepfather, Justin Carter. Jason Alexander, the only father she truly knew following her daddy's passing, played an irreplaceable role in her upbringing.

She was a beloved sister to Gavin, Hailey, and Taylor Alexander, as well as Wyatt and Jameson Carter. Her great grandmothers, Cynthia Lamb, Loredana Gosselin and Mary Washington, along with her many loving grandparents, Ray and Terri Rindahl, Denise and Larry Trawick, Debbie Gosselin, Greg Alexander, and David and Roni Carter, will forever treasure the memories of their precious granddaughter. A host of aunts and uncles, from the maternal side Allen Rindahl, to the Williams paternal side Steven and Sonya Fox, Casey Williams, Cori Trawick, and Cari and Stevie Woody, and the Alexander paternal side Greg Jr. and Amanda Alexander, Ryan and Angie Alexander, Ty Alexander, PaigeMarie and Gavin Lee, as well as the Carter paternal side Tyler Carter, and Joshua Carter, are left to honor her memory. Numerous cousins from her Williams paternal side and Alexander paternal sides will miss her dearly. Makaylah also formed an extended family of close friends within the military community, who became an integral part of her life as a proud military "brat."

Makaylah's academic journey was a testament to her passion for learning and growth. After graduating from Johnson High School in 2022, she pursued an early elementary degree at Alamo Colleges. Her love for education was evident, but her heart led her to follow a different path, as she transitioned to studying cosmetology at The Salon Professional Academy. Her dream was to graduate with a cosmetology license in the summer of 2025, a goal pursued with the same zeal and dedication that characterized all her endeavors. Makaylah found her calling in the world of cosmetology, embracing the hands-on work and creativity that the field allowed her to express.

Kindness and humor were the hallmarks of Makaylah's personality. She had the rare ability to light up a room with her laughter and to comfort those in need with her gentle spirit. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Makaylah embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.

Makaylah Denise Williams will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered for her radiant smile, her boundless kindness, and her infectious sense of humor. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, even as we mourn the loss of such a beautiful soul. Though her time with us was brief, the impact she made will endure forever.
