This is our first GoFundMe and it's certainly one that we never wanted to make. Our dog, Makana, was diagnosed with Lymphoma around 3 weeks ago. Since then, it has been a whirlwind of grief, questions, Vet visits, and traveling. There were numerous questions that needed to be answered: what type of Lymphoma is it, how would she react to Chemo, did she have a certain gene that affects chemo treatments, etc. All of these would affect our decision making process and what her outlook was. After several trips to the LSU Vet Hospital and many tests we finally have some answers and a gameplan.
So far, Makana is reacting great to her preliminary tests of chemo. Her lymph nodes are almost back to a normal size and she really is just acting like her normal self. The Vet is very pleased with the results and is very optimistic about the treatment plan. She has been given the best outlook that could be given to send this cancer into remission. Taking all of this into account, we have decided to go with the recommended chemo treatment that would give her the best odds at extending her life. Our only issue is the cost. Where we are in life, this will not be possible without financial aid. That is why we are asking anyone who feels led to give to please donate to this GoFundMe.
We appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and words of comfort that have already been given. We feel very loved and happy to know that Makana has had a positive impact on the people around us. She has truly been a joy to us and one of the best dogs I've ever had. Molly got her freshman year of high school, so she has literally grown up with her. They have a special bond that will never be broken. Makana has given so much to us, and so I want to fight for her to have the best quality of life that she can have as she approaches her later years. Thank you to everyone who reads this. Please consider partnering with us to help our girl.
