Hi Guys! How are you doing? We are Ana, Alin and Matias from the Makako Hostel family. In February of 2019 we left our home country of Argentina and moved to Cartagena de indias, Colombia to embark on our own entrepreneurial project, which we called Makako Hostel. During 2019 and the beginning of 2020 we had some of the best times of our lives and met some of the most amazing people from all over the world while fulfilling our dream of having our own business and being self-sufficient. Sadly, due to the coronavirus situation we are all acquainted with, all tourism and transit in Colombia has been shut-down since the 22nd of March until further notice. Our forecast is that it will not be normalized until the end of the year.
This is the only reason why we have not received any guests for the past four months and why we are about to close MAKAKO Hostel.
It’s never an easy thing to do and we never thought we would have to do it but in one last attempt to weather the storm we are asking for help among our Makako Friends and all those that can give us a helping hand. Of course, we completely understand if you are not in the position to help and in that case we only wish for you to send us your love and good vibes.

I'm Kyle, one of the Makako friends that Alin, Ana, and Matias reached out to with the above message. If you've visited Makako during your time in Cartagena, then you already know that they are wonderful people who really do everything they can to make their guests feel welcome and have a great time. I was lucky enough to stay at Makako for a whole week just before coronavirus shut the world down in March. I was traveling alone like many Makako guests, and they treated me like family, which is why I decided to help them create this fundraiser. GoFundMe is not supported in Colombia, so I agreed to set this up for them using their words up at the top to tell their story. As funds come in, I will send them to Alin, Ana, and Matias through Western Union or maybe PayPal if they can get that set up in Colombia. I'm explaining this here for the sake of transparency.
