Hi there, our names are Claire and Teegan! We are two young folks trying to make it work in this hectic world and have fallen into a pretty sticky situation:

Teegan is scheduled to get a major gender affirming surgery at the beginning of November and post operation care necessitates round the clock support for the first two weeks. We were banking on Claire utilizing Oregon Paid Family Medical Leave to take time off of work while still being able to pay the bills, however due to the state of the economy Claire was let go from her job a little over a month ago. One of the requirements to utilize OFML is that you have to have had your job for at least 3 months.

Teegan is immunocompromised, so especially when recovering from surgery, getting sick would be particularly bad. The surgery is November 3rd, just a few days after one of the biggest weekends of partying and likelihood of becoming ill. Due to this we have had to reassess how recovery is going to be gone about: we cannot expect our friends and family to give up their favorite weekend to help support us through this much needed and ever anticipated surgery (it has been 10 years of Teegan needing the procedure. It has been postponed three times because of sickness and life upheaval and this is the absolute last time they are able to receive it with the kind of coverage they have through their current insurance).

Be that as it may, Claire is the only person at this moment that is able to provide the post operation care for the first two weeks following the procedure. Though we would love to be able to say that this will change we cannot bank on it because everyone has their own stuff going on.

This GoFundMe is to help pay for rent and food while Claire is out of work and Teegan is recovering.

For the sake of transparency our combined rent and utilities are $1600. The rest of the money will go towards food and post op. materials like gloves, gauze, and specific care items to the type of surgery.
