Major Medical Expense for Hubert

Hey, William here and I am fundraising for a major coronary episode that has happened to my pup, a particularly cute, 9-year-old French Bulldog, Hubert ("ooh-bear").

 

A few weeks ago, he started to have some swelling in the stomach. My vet thought that we had it under control, but it became clear that it was more severe than first thought. So, we were sent to specialists for a second abdominal sonogram and a heart sonogram. The cardiologist found a tumor that was pressing against the heart, causing a murmur and decreasing its effectiveness (which led to the build up of water). On September 30, they pumped out 1 liter of liquid from his stomach and 180 ml. of blood from around his heart.

 

We have begun medication for the heart and are to see the cardiologist again next week. He believes it is an "aortic chemodectoma," a slow-growing tumor and that we can develop a treatment that will allow him to live longer and have a good quality of life. He also suggests that we see an oncologist.

 

The first three visits, with all of the testing, have cost €1,000 ($1,160). The amount needed to cover the next expenses brings the total to €2,100 ($2436).

 

I am a writer, working on finishing my next book, which always take years. Many writers live close to the edge, financially, and I am not yet at the point where I am producing enough income to handle these costs.

 

Hubert is an awesome dog. He brings so much joy to so many people's lives, whether it is with his friends in Houston, where he was born, or New York, where he became a licensed therapy dog, or here in Paris. A local gallery posted a picture of him on their Instagram and someone wrote, "He's the star of the neighborhood!"

 

I've always made an effort to take such good care of Hubert. But, now, we could use some help, here on Team Hubert... ;)
