Maisy’s double CCL (ACL) surgery
Donation protected
Hey guys, this is totally out of my comfort zone, but Maisy and I are in need of a little help.
For the past year I have taken Maisy to multiple vets trying to figure out what is going on with her. Every day Maisy struggles to walk and move. She gets one walk in a day and then struggles with mobility for the remainder of the day, to the point where she is crying for help to just move positions while in bed. We have been told over and over that she “over worked herself at the dog park” or had “sore muscles” or a “pulled muscle.” Eventually, I was told she had hip dysplasia and arthritis in her knees. Maisy turns 4 this month and I’ve found it hard to believe that any of this was the problem. We’ve been managing her pain with medication 2x a day but it’s beginning to have less of an effect than it used to. I finally decided to get X-rays done on Maisys hips and legs. Two weeks later I received a phone call from the lab informing me that Maisy’s hips were actually pretty great, but that she had torn her CCL’s (ACL’s in humans) in both back legs. I was then referred to an orthopedic and given the news that our only option at this point is to perform surgery on both legs. This surgery is anywhere between $4,800-$5,300…per leg. I do have pet insurance, but anyone who also has ASPCA pet insurance also knows everything needs to be paid for out of pocket before a claim can be filed and reviewed to see if anything, if at all, is covered. I wish I had the $10,000 for this surgery, but I simply just do not and this is why I am asking for any bit of help from anyone who can. Her surgery is scheduled for January 4, 2022. In the pictures attached is an itemized cost for everything this surgery will include. Maisy and I are extremely thankful and grateful for any help we can get. Xoxoxoxo
