Hi, I’m Maisie, and I’m hoping to raise £4,000 to fund a customised wheelchair that will enable me to live independently and support my complex health needs.

I’m 24, and due to chronic health conditions not likely to improve, I rely on a wheelchair daily. My previous wheelchair, which was second hand and didn't suit my needs well anyway, was unfortunately damaged during a flight with TUI. Despite appeals, they haven’t replaced it, leaving me without reliable mobility support.

NHS-provided chairs, though helpful for many, are too heavy for my requirements and don’t allow me the independence I need, as I can’t self-propel or move around safely with them without support. To support my health and day-to-day life, I need a customised wheelchair that’s lightweight, built and cushioned sufficiently to relieve pressure on my joints, and designed with my specific needs in mind. (Did you know it can be up to £750 *just* for the cushion depending on what style the fitters think I need?).

The funds raised will go directly towards purchasing a custom-fit, lightweight wheelchair that meets my needs and allows me to regain my independence. Your help will mean everything to me, enabling me to go about my daily activities, work, and enjoy life without the (increased) constant pain and challenges I face with unsuitable equipment.
