Maisie's New Chapter: LINES Training Program 2024-25

my name is Maisie Briones, born and raised in the Philippines. it is with great excitement to finally share that I've been accepted and am currently attending Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program (LBTP), a dream that's been planted in my mind and heart since the day i learned about LINES through YouTube, a long time ago when I was still navigating through my dance career back in the Philippines.

we are in fact already 4 weeks into the program and it has been nothing but full of inspiration and our dedication to grow, investigate, research, explore, imagine, create, and collaborate through dance and movement. we all have been receiving amazing training and workshops from our esteemed faculty and guest artists since the start of September for 5 times a week. each passing day since then has been an amazing opportunity for me to be and become part of something bigger than myself. i couldn't be more grateful. for myself for making the brave decision to follow one of my heart's greatest desires against all odds. also for all the people who supported and cheered me on to take this exciting new path!

i was dancing as a parade dancer with Hong Kong Disneyland before all this. when summer ended, things unfolded very quickly as I packed my life in HK and fly almost immediately to SF, California. just in time to welcome autumn, a season of transformation and somehow of unbecoming.

one can say it was a wild transition to this entirely new chapter for me, but things fell right into place and here I am already approaching my 5th week with LBTP.

LBTP, with the high caliber education and training it is providing, will be instrumental to my growth as a dance artist especially as i re-enter the ballet-contemporary scene. hence, one of the many reasons to believe it's a worthy investment to have for myself and my professional dance career.

continuing with this journey, i am reaching out to everyone who may be able to help support me in pursuing this dream of mine. while my family and i have been finding ways to secure my resources and make all of this happen for me, any additional financial support will be greatly appreciated as it will help partially cover expenses for food, housing, and transportation, as well as dance essentials such as pointe shoes, ribbons, etc.

my heartfelt gratitude goes to everyone who has already helped me get to where i am right now. do know that all your support in whatever form, (financial, emotional, spiritual) has always inspired me to work harder and be braver in my chosen craft. i am finally putting myself out here for the whole world to witness and i hope to continue to do so to the best of my abilities.
