Maintain 130-Year old Family Home

I am Leonard Paul Sherrod, Jr,  the great grandson of Jack Sherrod. He was born into slavery in 1843.

Jack served in the Union Army during the Civil War.

As a free man, Jack acquired land and built a home for his family-to-be in 1886-1888. The home and land have remained in the family from that time  until now.

Due to unfortunate finanicial circumstances, the property ended up in foreclosure in 2015.

A group of Founding Stakeholders were able to acquire the property. So, the Sherrod family are STILL the owners!

Now that the Homestead Property is securely in the family, we must repair, re-furnish and maintain it.

Our objective is to accomplish the three items above as quickly as possible so that the  home and grounds are in a livable condition from this point forward.

After this is done,  the property will be available to family members for functions and short-term stays for a nominal donation.

There is a mortgage that we make monthly payments on plus lawn care and utilities.

We need $9.3K  yearly to take care of the three cost items above.

To make it convenient for family members to be a part of this most-important project, we have created two stakeholder catogories: Sustaining and In-Kind.

Sustaining means you donate funds - ongoing or one-time.  NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!
In-Kind means you donate your time, product(s) or service(s).

You can donate via this GoFundMe page or contact me for other options.

We have formed "The Next Step Committee"  to oversee the accomplishment of our Objective.

Thank you.
