On April 18th we received terrible news that one of our longest standing employees, Daniel Gary Goodwin, had suffered a medical emergency and did not survive the event.
Daniel had been with Mainstreet Inc. since it was founded in 2003. His primary role with the company was working with and managing an internal team that supported all point of sale depot services, repair, and integration activity for one very large retail client. This was a position he had also held in a previous company, Systech Retail Systems Inc. for several years prior.
Daniel is originally from Asmara, Eritrea and then sought refuge in Sudan from the war in Eritrea. He and his wife Nura were sponsored to immigrate to the US in 1993 and became citizens. They came here for a better life, settled down, and had their 4 wonderful daughters here.
Daniel had a unique way of protecting some of his daughters. For several years whilst they were still in school, Daniel had Mainstreet hire them to assist him in his daily routine. One of them still works full time at Mainstreet.
At Mainstreet, Daniel left a positive impact on everyone he met. Here is a direct quote posted on LinkedIn by a former employee of a nationwide Mainstreet client that Daniel supported:
"I just heard the devastating news about Daniel's passing. Daniel was a great person and will always be remembered. Please extend my deepest sympathies to his family at home and the Mainstreet family. To me, Daniel was and will forever be a part of our company's family. Every single device that is at every store has a piece of Daniel with it. There is absolutely no one at our company that can make that claim. He will be dearly missed."
When remembering Daniel, no one ever went hungry on his watch. He always brought in wonderful home-cooked meals, and made sure that everyone on his team was fed before he ate himself. He was liked and respected by all that knew him.
We are setting up this GoFundMe account to support Daniel's wife and children with the unforeseen expenses following Daniel's death. We want to come together as a community to help out this family as best we can in Daniel's memory. Any donations, no matter the size, are immensely appreciated and will be used to alleviate added stress on the family during this time of tragedy.
