Every town has at least one. The coffee shop. But there is no other like Burnsville's beloved Appalachian Java Cafe' and Desserts. Owned and operated by Calvin & Angie Rash since January 2017, our humble, little cafe' has taken great pride in serving the local community, and folks just passing through, hot coffee, made-to-order breakfast, lunch & dinner and delicious pastries and desserts made right here by our own bakers.
We take great pride in who we are and what we do and, like so many other small businesses in our hometown, we wouldn't trade the opportunity to continue doing business in Burnsville for all the Mica in the mountains. Sadly, because of the current state of our nation and the world, we, like so many others, find ourselves in the unfortunate, but necessary position of following state and nationally mandated guidelines which have required us to close our dining room and The Loft to the faces we've loved to see every day. While we are still determined to serve our guests via carry-out, curbside carry-out and delivery options, these changes have affected our day-to-day operations and our income in the worst way, and the situation shows no signs of improving in the near future. APP JAVA NEEDS YOU!!
It takes a lot to provide the level of service that our guests have become accustomed to...and they shouldn't have to settle for less. We have 20 hard-working, dedicated kitchen staff and Baristas who come to the cafe' each and every day ready to provide exceptional, friendly service and quality, delicious food and drinks at a reasonable price. These folks depend on their hourly wages, and tips, like so many others in this community, to make ends meet. It is our strongest desire to continue to be an employer that our staff can depend upon.
We know a lot of y'all are struggling, too, and our hearts go out to you and your families. We love serving this community, and being so much more than "just a coffee shop", and we wouldn't even THINK of asking for your help if the situation weren't so dire for this small business and all of our brother and sister entrepreneurs in the area. The most important thing you can do is to continue to call the café and place take-out orders or allow us to deliver to you at home or work, if you are fortunate enough to still be able to go to work. If there is ANYTHING you can do to help us bridge the gap caused by the reduction of hours and loss of business that will allow us to provide for our staff and still be standing when the dust settles, we would be forever grateful for your sacrifice and help in what, to date, is proving to be our greatest hour of need.
