Hello! My name is Maikla!

I am an out-of-state student at UWSP from the Kansas City area. I don’t have any contact with my family anymore and have been putting myself through college on my own financially. It has been a crazy year of struggling to not only live day-to-day financially, but to even remain a student here.

When I was in KC, I lived with my partner in his apartment. We have recently broken up, so I have decided to move to Stevens Point permanently. Unfortunately, I must return to KC this weekend to retrieve the rest of my things. I have them stored there, but cannot afford to pay for the storage and must get it asap to move as much of it as I can to my room here in Point.

I am struggling to gather funds to pay for gas/food on the trip (a 9 hour drive!). I currently work two jobs, but as an independent student, I have many other additional expenses that eat up each of my paychecks as I get them (taxes, bills, insurances, you know… all that fun adult stuff).

Money for travel is the most emergent situation, although I wanted to start this to try and raise a little money for things in my apartment. I move in August 1st, but since I have disconnected from my family I have had to return all my belongings to them. I do not have a bed frame, a dresser, or any other needed furniture items for my new place.

If you are able, all donations would be greatly appreciated, even just a dollar would help a long way. Or, if you know of anyone getting rid of furniture, that info would help too. I very much appreciate your support and you taking the time to read through this.
