Maihaa Keeley's Cancer Treatment Fund

Dearest community,
One of my most beloved friends needs our help. I have never known a more selfless and pure-hearted woman than Maihaa Keeley. She is a single mom of a brilliant young boy, the most talented chef I have ever met, and a profoundly impactful teacher. Maihaa has dedicated her life to healing others, leads the foodservice for the homeless at the community church, and shows up in small and large ways for every person in her life and beyond. It is incredibly hard for her to receive help, but she needs us RIGHT NOW.
This has been a tough year for Maihaa. About one year ago, through unforeseeable circumstances, she lost a job that had been her life's work. Following this lead to extreme financial stress and unfortunately her health took a very serious turn for the worse.
Maihaa was hospitalized a number of times without health insurance for a variety of debilitating issues. These medical conditions have prohibited her from working at her typical industrious pace.
Just a few weeks ago, Maihaa went back to the hospital due to more unexplained health problems to learn that she had a tumor in her uterus. After a biopsy and PET scan, she learned that it is cancer.
Maihaa is beginning treatment tomorrow, March 9th. She will undergo about 2 months of radiation and chemotherapy to hopefully shrink the tumor and bring her back to her vibrant self. In the meantime what Maihaa needs to do, besides continuing to parent her young son, is rest.
My request, dear community, is this: let us help generate the funds to pay for Maihaa's immediate needs- rent, food and the basics for her son. She has applied for medicaid and will hopefully be receiving some support for her treatments, but there undoubtably will be additional medical expenses.
