Elkins Mission Trip to Guatemala
We had the opportunity to travel to Guatemala in July of 2015 on a 10 day mission trip as members of Mutual Aid International (501 (c)(3))to train and respond with local volunteer firefighter and EMS providers in various villages throughout Guatemala. While there we fell in love with the country and it's people. We were blessed to be able to provide some much needed equipment and training in various topics the Bomberos Voluntarios (Volunteer Firefighters) so desperately need. Being able to see first hand the dire need for fire and medical services, and the heart breakingly difficult and under funded means in which these responders must operate, made us want to help on a long term basis. We are hoping to return to Guatemala in March 2017. Between the both of us, we bring 47 years of fire and EMS expierience. We are anxious to get back to Guatemala so we can give back to those less fortunate through sharing our knowledge and offering expertise in classroom and hands on training sessions as well as on actual emergency scenes. However, we must raise $4,000 ($2,000 each) in order to meet the fundraiding requirements to be able to go. Please donate if you can to Mutual Aid International and help us to continue to provide this much needed service to the first responders and residents of this third world country. Anything helps! Mutual Aid International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
