Maicen goes on a trip of a lifetime - Expedition to Borneo.

Maicen is very lucky and fortunate enough to be going on a school trip, doing a 13 day expedition to Malaysia into Borneo, in July 2026, (not jealous much!) . He will be doing the Pahu Trail Trek, Gibbon Conservation and Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre (SORC). Which is one of the very few places in the world where you can see orangutans in their natural habitat. Arranged with World Challenge, they will be venturing through steamy jungles, engaging with locals experiencing first hand their culture and way of life. During the trek they will be camping within jungles and learning about deforestation whilst helping gibbons, rescued from the illegal pet trade, rehabilitating them until they are ready to be released. They will be learning about these endangered ‘singing apes’, the threats they face and how the World Challenge organisation is helping protect them. Deforestation is destroying their habitats, while illegal traders kill entire gibbon families to sell their babies as pets. They will be rolling up their sleeves and getting involved. Lending their hands with feeding, cleaning out and creating stimulating activities to help the gibbons reclaim their survival skills.

Sadly this all comes at a big cost, the cost of the trip alone is £4,395, and will also need to pay for visas, immunisations, and full treking kit, so around £5k.

As i said, this really is a TRIP OF A LIFETIME!!

This is where the fundraising comes in...

The organisation, have suggested fundraising, and ways to help raise money, so there are a few things, we all will be doing as a family to help raise money, through sponsorship, events, targets, selling etc, so that we can fulfil a dream and memory for Maicen that will always last a life time!

There are some things coming up, that we would love some donations/sponsorship for rather than go to a charity, we would love to put towards the funds for Maicens trip.

Caz - Hyrox - November

Caz is completing Hyrox at the Excel Centre in November, in a double and is currently training very hard to do her first competition.

This will include working in a double, and doing a number of intense stations, with a 1km run in between each one. (8km in total)
