Maia Demetrius
Donation protected
Words cannot express the sorrow, pain, shock, and tears the Demetrius/Richardson/Barber family is enduring right now. As difficult as this is to write, with more questions than answers, and answers that may never been found.
Many friends have approached me to offer their help, in whatever way they can. Although Megan and Steve have asked for nothing, I have set this up for the immediate and ongoing costs and counselling they, and their sons, Alex and Justin, will require over the coming weeks, months, years, or however they see fit to use it.
If you so choose to donate, any amount, thank you. Regardless, please say a prayer for Maia, and another for the family.
Thank you.

Message from Steve & Megan:
We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we have been receiving from you, my Teknion family. Your contributions to a Go Fund Me campaign in Maia's name is over and above what we had ever expected and greatly appreciated.
Maia always wanted to do good for others - be it in the community or for the environment. Her passion was the arts. We have set up an endowment fund in her name and all proceeds from the Go Fund Me campaign will be directed to this fund. Maia loved the stage and being in plays. We hope to continue Maia's legacy and fund arts programs in the District of Peel Schools in her memory. Thank you for making her dream possible.
Message from Maia's brother Alex:
Maia March 10, 2007 – June 10, 2018 Maia, a champion; she can change so much… Maia, fierce, intelligent, creative, caring, every work she hoards felt novel. Strong, commanding, everything planned meticulously, every action with purpose. Hardworking with integrity with her moral compass, she followed all rules to a tee; she chose to put meaning into them. Joyful, loving, experiencing, her face holds so much expression, unforgettable. Everything seen, emboldened by imagination, ideas a twinkle in her eye. She always moves with her feet, influences with her hands, acts with her voice. She is the constant spark in the community she wanted to help. Thinking, moving, never idle, she lives a lifetime every day. Down to earth, YouTube, video games, sports, so so human, yet so much more. A lively idol, perfection would never be enough; she couldn’t see the strength of the river for the dam. Entirely playful, slam into the room, smack you over the head with paper towel, sly evil sibling giggle, sting from her strength scarce felt through heartfelt love. In all her life was there ever a truly negative memory. Who could have wanted anything less for her than happiness.
