Maia Lucille Hansen's Memorial Fund

Donation protected
My name is Farah, and I'm fundraising for my two precious friends who recently lost their beloved 20-day old daughter, Maia Lucille Hansen. As you can imagine, this is any parents' worst nightmare, and my heart continues to break each day when I think about the gut-wrenching pain they have had (and will continue to have) to endure.

Melissa and Collier brought their beautiful baby girl into the world on October 5th, 2021. Tragically, due to a rare heart condition and unforeseen complications after open-heart surgery, Maia passed away just 20 short days after she was born.

I originally created this fund to help them manage their medical and personal expenses, but true to character my friends insisted that they would feel more comfortable with all funds directed towards helping future babies like Maia, so that no one else has to go through the devastation that they are going through. So, in collaboration with Melissa and Collier, I am asking for donations to the Children's Heart Foundation in Maia's honor. Specifically, Melissa and Collier plan to participate in a Congenital Heart Walk next month (05/22/2022). The walk is sponsored by the Children's Heart Foundation and located in Los Angeles near their home, and with your help I would love to collectively raise enough money to sponsor Melissa and Collier. All money raised will go directly to the Children's Heart Foundation in Maia's honor. To find out more information about the walk, please click here .

Though there will never be a cure for Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) since it just "happens" in fetal development and can happen to any pregnancy, the Children's Heart Foundation funds research for treatments for children born with CHD. If you were born with a critical CHD in the 70s or 80s, you died within hours because there was really nothing that could be done. Now, however, thanks to research from the Children's Heart Foundation, most babies live after treatment and/or surgery, even though Maia did not.

Melissa and Collier are genuinely some of the most selfless, brave, and resilient humans I know. They want nothing more in this life than for their family, fur babies, and loved ones to thrive, and I just want to return the favor. So, if you can, please consider donating to help this grieving family honor their daughter and help fund research for future babies and parents of CHD. If you are unable to donate, please help by sharing this post; and if nothing else, please send this family your heartfelt wishes for health and healing. It takes a village!

Rest in sweet peace, beautiful Maia. Aunt Farah loves you so very much. xoxo
