Support Mahoganie: A Champion for LGBTQ Youth
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Farris & I want to tell you about my friend Mahoganie.
I am collecting funds to help Mahoganie cover her basic living expenses. Every donation makes a difference.
For the past seven years, Mahoganie has dedicated her career to supporting marginalized students in Texas. As the Coordinator for the Support Services for LGBTQ Youth Department — a program she founded in 2019 — she worked tirelessly to ensure LGBTQ+ students in her district had the resources, advocacy, and safe spaces they deserved. Before that, she served as a specialist for the Homeless Education Program, always prioritizing students who needed support the most.
Mahoganie is an unwavering ally, deeply committed to the belief that her liberation is bound to the liberation of LGBTQ+ people. She’s the fiercest advocate I know. For the past two years, we’ve served together on GLSEN’s Educator Advisory Council, where she has led efforts to ensure educators in the Deep South have the tools and resources to affirm LGBTQ+ students.
Because of her advocacy, Mahoganie has been the repeated target of right-wing hate groups. She’s been doxxed, harassed, and featured in extremist publications — but she has never backed down from fighting for LGBTQ+ youth.
Recently, she was targeted in an entrapment scheme by an anti-trans hate group. They recorded her without her consent, hoping to fabricate wrongdoing. Instead, their video only proves what we already knew: Mahoganie is a fearless champion for the rights and dignity of trans and nonbinary youth.
Following this incident, members of the hate group attempted to enter her workplace. Despite the threats against her safety, her employer failed to keep them out. These individuals tried to reach her office, putting her at direct risk. Instead of protecting her, the district terminated her employment—despite no wrongdoing on her part.
Now, Mahoganie needs our support. These attacks are meant to silence educators and enact a chilling effect on LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools. But Mahoganie remains undaunted: she is ready to keep fighting.
Mahoganie has put everything, both personally and professionally, on the line for LGBTQ+ youth. She has had our backs; now it’s time for us to have hers.
I am collecting funds to help Mahoganie cover her basic living expenses — housing, food, gas, bills, and care for her dogs — while she searches for new employment. Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference.
If you can’t give financially, please share this fundraiser and spread Mahoganie’s story. Together, we can show her that she is not alone and that her courage will always be met with care and solidarity.
Please donate and share this GoFundMe with your networks!
Thank you for standing with Mahoganie.
