My name is Lourdie and I am the mother of Mahalia (Halle). On September 19th of this year, I took Mahalia to her pediatrician for a wellness check-up. I explained to the pediatrician a concern I had regarding Mahalia's excessive thirst and frequent need to urinate. The symptoms started sometime in July 2025. She did a glucose test for her and Halle's level was at 300. SUPER SCARY!! We were told to go to the ER to receive treatment. She was admitted and we spent 3 days in the hospital. She was diagnosed with an onset of type 1 diabetes.

On Monday, we were discharged. We had numerous doctor's appointments to attend, including meeting with the diabetes educator. Mahalia's medication (insulin) is very pricey and she needs it to help regulate her blood sugar after each meal and overnight when she sleeps. The out-of-pocket price is $850.65 for a 30-day supply. I am reaching out to family and friends asking to please help my little princess obtain her medicine and help pay for her medical expenses until I can get insurance coverage.
