Magnolia Mae Needs Your Help!
As many of you know Magnolia Mae is a special soul. She has had to overcome many obstacles in her short 3 years of life and has done it all with a smile on her face. But that smile has faded, as Magnolia has been at the Emergency vet for 2 days in serious condition. We need your help to raise funds to cover her emergency medical expenses!
This past Sunday night Magnolia became ill. She was throwing up through the night and by Monday afternoon it became very clear to me that we were in an emergency situation. Through out the day Monday she went from her normal happy self, to a dog that I did not recognize. She very quickly became non-responsive, and could not stand, or walk. She went completely limp in my arms and I thought I had lost her. When we arrived at Tufts they quickly assessed her and discovered that she had lost her vision and was hardly responding to any of their neurological tests. Because of the vomiting she was suffering from severe dehydration, and her body was very weak. She remained hospitalized overnight in order to try to get the the root of her issues.
Tuesday morning she showed slight improvements; she was able to take a short walk outside with her neuro team, but was still showing signs of neurological distress. She began peeing blood and her care team was able to see that all of these issues may be related to a severe bladder infection, which is incredibly rare, but possible for a dog with spina bifida and incontinence. She is no where near out of the woods and remains hospitalized and in serious condition at Tufts.
Magnolia has racked up quite the bill from her stay so far and will continue to do so until she is cleared to go home in the next few days.
When I first took Maggie in as a foster from The Worcester Animal Rescue League, it was on a trial basis, to see if this sad looking little bulldog had any quality of life. Little did we know that she would spark joy in a community of people who would grow to love her like family. So many of you have celebrated birthdays with us, donated supplies and sent us all the love we could ever imagine. And once again we need to call on that community to help us. Any amount that you can donate would be appreciated so much more than you'll ever know. I have never been someone to ask for help, but I would do anything to give this girl another chance at a happy and healthy life.
Thank you so much!
