The MAGIS Service Organization at Loyola Marymount University is raising funds to support seniors at Verbum Dei Jesuit High School in Watts as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journeys.
Through our partnership with Verbum Dei, MAGIS members work directly with seniors throughout the year, supporting them through the college application process, personal statements, and other steps toward higher education. Our annual 48-Hour Fundraiser brings the LMU community together to turn that support into direct financial assistance.
Every dollar raised will go toward scholarships for graduating Verbum Dei seniors, helping ease the financial barriers that can come with pursuing a college education.
The Impact of Your Support
Last year, Johan Garcia (Verbum Dei ’26, UC Berkeley ’30) was a recipient of the MAGIS Merit Award. In his own words:
“Receiving the MAGIS award let me participate in the summer bridge program that I otherwise would not have been able to afford. Thanks to the scholarship, I was able to visit the university early, where I learned how to navigate campus, find resources for academic support and health, and meet new friends who I still hang out with to this day. My experience during the fundraiser helped me reflect on the theme of belonging and identity, and because of that, I felt confident in choosing a university that emphasizes diversity. Without this experience, I would have probably fallen into the "imposter syndrome" that many of my peers claim to struggle with.”

Your donation can help create the same opportunities for this year’s Verbum Dei seniors. By supporting the MAGIS 48-Hour Fundraiser, you are directly investing in students as they pursue higher education and begin the next chapter of their lives.
