Magic to Motivation: Help Us Keep the Art Flowing

Hello! My name is Neesha Badhan and I am the founding Director of NBAM CIC. We are a non-profit providing community arts organisation working with vulnerable adults in East London.

At NBAM, we run workshops that have made a real difference for adults with physical, mental, and learning disabilities, as well as those facing other vulnerabilities. With community resources dwindling, these free workshops have become an essential lifeline, offering a compassionate space to explore creativity, make friends, and build confidence. By removing financial barriers, we ensure that those who need support the most can access meaningful connections and creative expression in a welcoming environment.

Operating out of The Mill in Walthamstow, NBAM has been a vital community resource for the past three years. Our founding director has worked with vulnerable adults since 2012, bringing over a decade of experience to the organisation. Launched in 2022 by a dedicated team of three directors, NBAM was created to provide a welcoming, creative space where members feel valued and supported.

For many of our participants, this isn’t just a workshop, it’s an extremely valued support system and a key source of connection. These are some of the most overlooked and vulnerable people in our society, and without NBAM, they would lose a crucial community that understands them. Many have built lasting friendships here, finding both creative expression and a sense of belonging they couldn’t find elsewhere.

One participant, reflecting on their journey through grief, shares: “NBAM is worth their weight in gold for leading the art projects. On an individual level, Neesha is invaluable and stimulating for the group.” Another member expressed “This is the first time I have felt accepted for my mental health.”

Right now, we need your support to keep our work going. Our current series, Magic, Myths, and Miracles, has made a real difference for so many. Unfortunately, with funding ending in March, NBAM risks losing all the progress we have made with both individuals and within the community.

Your donation will allow us to continue our work, covering essential costs such as artist fees, materials, rent, and administrative expenses. More than that, it will also enable us to launch Motivational Mondays, an initiative designed to provide even more opportunities for people to grow, create, and belong.

By donating, you’re not just funding a workshop—you’re helping keep a space where people feel valued and supported, open, and thriving for those who need it most.

You are invited to see our Latest Exhibition

We have an exhibition launching at The Mill, Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, E17 7HA from 1st April to 4th May. Please do visit and see the wonderful work we have been creating together.

NBAM CIC are based in the offices upstairs so feel free to contact us for more information about the good work in the community we are doing.

Above is an image of artwork created in one sessions when using adaptions. Several of the participants struggle with physically demanding tasks and as such each session we think about how to ensure everyone is included. This image shows quite how much can be achieved when thoughtfulness is put into practice.
