Dear friends,
As may you know, about a year ago our family moved back from being missionaries in Cambodia and we now live (most of us) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The transition has been a little rough for me. As I get used to this new environment, I’ve grown to see things a little differently and to trust God’s purposes and provisions even when they are not what I envision as best for me.
Although I’ve been accepted to three different universities in Colorado for this coming fall, before I start college, I hope to take a gap year. I feel that God is ultimately calling me to overseas missions, maybe even to China, my birth country. There is a program called the “Discipleship Training Program,” or “DTS”, which I believe will help prepare me for that calling. Under the auspices of “Youth With a Mission” (“YWAM”), I will be spending three months in Bible training in Montana starting in September, then go overseas (perhaps to Nepal or even back to Cambodia) for ministry work for two months.
The total cost of the program is $6,750, which includes airfare to and from the mission field as well as all training, room and board. My parents will likely have three daughters in college this coming fall, then five the following year (including me), so they are hard pressed to pay for everything. Due to that reality, I need to raise the funds myself to be able to attend DTS. I am writing to you to ask for your financial help. I’ve raised a little over $2,000 so far, thanks to the generous help of friends and family.
Please consider helping. If you are unable to give, please be praying that others would give, and that this experience would be enriching to me in ways that would enable me also to be a blessing to others.
I feel strongly that this is what God is calling me to. Thanks to you and everyone who has influenced my life or touched our family in any way over the years.
