My name is Jeff Walters and my wife Maggie, and I need your help.

In July 2022, Maggie was experiencing incredible pain and was hospitalized for what they discovered to be an internal hernia. She coded when in the hospital and all her organs failed. Maggie spent nearly 4 months in the hospital and after a total of 9 surgeries (including 3 amputations), her organs slowly started recovering. However, her only remaining kidney (she donated her other kidney, 14 years ago, to her ex-husband to save his life) failed to recover. Maggie has been enduring dialysis for nearly a year as her kidney is in end-stage renal failure. Her only option now is a kidney transplant.

The reason I am asking for your help is that I am going to donate one of my kidneys to Maggie. This means that I will not be able to be her sole caretaker post-procedure. We are choosing to have the procedure done in Las Vegas because as of February 1st, they are now home to the top-ranked kidney transplant program in the US.

Since neither of us will be able to work while we recover, we need funds to rent an apartment for the month, or longer, while she, and I, are recovering. These funds will also be used for living expenses for two to three caretakers for as long as Maggie must stay in Vegas to complete her rehab. Any extra funds will be used for future care and rehabilitation for Maggie.
