So… I’ve decided to throw myself out of a plane
I’ve decided to take on this challenge to raise money for Maggie’s Centres, an incredible charity that supports people living with cancer and their families.
This cause is very close to my heart. In December 2025 my Nan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and like so many families, we’re facing the emotional impact that comes with it. Charities like Maggie’s make such a difference. They provide vital support, guidance, and a safe space for people going through one of the hardest times in their lives.
Maggie was a writer, gardener and designer. When she was 47, Maggie was diagnosed with breast cancer and five years later, in May 1993, she was told that it had returned. Maggie felt that her diagnosis and treatment was as hard on her family as it was on her, so she created a new type of support, a centre that could make the experience of cancer more manageable for everyone. She believed that with encouragement to become actively involved in treatment, and with the right information and support, people could change the way they live with cancer.
Maggie also wanted to bring people together in a calm and friendly space that would help them to find comfort in the experiences of others. This year, Maggies are marking their 30th year of providing life-changing support since their first centre opened in 1996.
So I’ll be jumping out of a plane to raise money and awareness for a charity that makes such a difference. This is completely out of my comfort zone and I like my feet firmly on the ground and my heart rate at a reasonable level, but it felt like the perfect way to do something positive, raise some money, and maybe face a fear or two along the way.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to me and my family (it would also help make the whole “falling from the sky” thing feel slightly more worth it!). If you can’t donate, sharing this page would help more than you know.
Thank you so much for your support!
