Maggie's battle for MagZi
Donation protected
In November 2022, Maggie flew 18 hours to Tanzania where she invested her entire life savings into a new African-print clothing manufacturing venture she had been dreaming about bringing to fruition for years. Maggie was excited that MagZi Fashion would be manufactured in Africa. She hired locally and set up business. Maggie saw this journey as a way to give back to her beloved African community and propel MagZi Fashion into the future.
She worked hard for weeks and when it was time for Maggie to return to the US, she thought she had left her company in good hands. Before long, the company gained a lot of positive attention and received a considerable number of orders. Sadly, shortly before the holidays, Maggie learned that an unscrupulous employee stole everything. Money. Stock. Machinery. Even the curtains from the windows. Everything was gone. Maggie’s good intent for her community as well as her dreams of an African-manufactured fashion line were derailed.
Maggie faces a tremendous upward battle to regain her footing. She’s dealing with Embassy calls, attorneys, legal fees, international law and a corrupt Tanzanian government. It’s a lot. It’s discouraging. Maggie deserves better. Maggie is fighting valiantly, but she shouldn’t have to deal with the enormity of this loss alone.
