Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to someone who meant so much to all of us. Maggie brought warmth, kindness, and love into every room she entered. Maggie Mortensen was a wonderfully witty transplant from New Orleans who loved to cook some of the most amazing dishes and delightful, melt-in-your-mouth desserts. She found great joy in sharing her love for food and cooking with anyone eager to spend time in the kitchen. Maggie had a heart of gold and would help with anything, often before you even asked. Her passion for perfume connected her with friends all over the world, and her dedication to animal rescue led her to volunteer with several organizations in town, including Carolina Kitties.

In recent years, Maggie developed heart and lung issues that required several surgeries, which financially drained her. She had no living family, no spouse, no children, and no one to assist with her burial costs. Maggie was unable to maintain any sort of life insurance policy. She deserves more than an unmarked resting place, where no one is allowed to visit or know where she is located. Maggie deserves to be remembered with love, respect, and care.
