Magda's Road to Recovery

As many of you know, our delightfully feisty friend and coworker, Magda was struck by a car on April 5th while crossing the street in Pernes. After being helipcoptered to nearby Marseille, she was placed in an induced coma to minimize brain swelling and damage. Magda was in a coma for eight days before the doctors felt it was safe to wake her. Miraculously, she very soon began moving, communicating, and most importantly being the Magda we all know and love - strong and determined. Just as you would expect from Magda, her recovery is well underway. She is walking, talking, laughing, and even able to drive short distances now! What an incredible gift to have our friend back so swiftly! Many of you have been such a huge help with encouraging her and showing her support during her recovery, but there is another way we can help her.

As most accidents do, this has put a great stress on Magda and her finances. She very recently purchased an apartment and was planning on a work-filled summer to pay the bills. Even with as much progress as she has already made in her recovery, the doctor has informed her that she will not be able to go back to work until late September. On top of that, French medical insurance covers all her medical expenses, but not her living expenses now that she’s out of the hospital. I know from speaking with her and others around her that she is struggling with this and it consumes her.

Her time and thoughts she be focused on recovering, not finding a way to pay the bills. Let's do all we can to remove that burden during this important time. Thank you everyone!
